The Waterbury Button Company was established to make uniform buttons for the U.S. military during the War of 1812. One hundred [100] years later, when the Titanic tragically sank, many of the uniform buttons worn by the officers and crew had also been made by "Waterbury Button ". In 1997, Waterbury Button was the only original manufacturer still in operation and they were commissioned to create a reproduction of the Titanic buttons for the movie as they were These pieces are all made using the tooling for those reproductions
