Product Details
This is John's full bodied, "mallard pair". The wing tip of the following bird is 4 feet above the roof line. This hand-hammered copper weathervane measures 31 inches from the tip of arrow head to the tail of the 2nd mallard and the wingspread of each bird is 23 inches. If you look closely, you'll see a solid brass "guard dog" attached to the mounting post right on line with the lead mallard's lower wing tip. The incredible balance that John engineers into his weathervanes is so precise that these mallards will literally fly off the post in a stiff breeze. The "guard dog" keeps the birds where they belong and is John's trademark. It also helps keep the weathervane from being easily removed by college pranksters. Each one is signed, numbered, and dated underneath the left wing of the lead duck. The copper has not been treated and will age into a rich patina over time.
